Canes Capture First Win of the Season

The Hampton Hurricanes picked up their first season win defeating the visiting Fundy Cobra’s .

After a scoreless first penalties played a large part in the second . Playing short handed Hampton’s Dax Pattison sent Matt Porter in one on one for the Hurricanes first goal . Fundy’s Trevor Bishop assisted by Adam Mattie tied the game with a power play goal after Hampton were caught on a line change with to many men . With 9:37 left in the second the power play proved costly for Fundy again when Hurricane Chris Harford fired his unassisted short handed goal putting Hampton up by one to finish the period with a 2 – 1 lead .
At 12:08 of the third Hampton’s Thomas Rice scored on the power play after being set up by Matt Porter and Brad Hooper for the eventual game winner . Hampton added to the lead 5 minutes later when Kyle Dobson and Joe Donelle combined to find Evan LeBlanc for the only even strength goal of the game . With 2:15 left to play Fundy’s Chris Stillwell and Chris Jackson found an open Justin Maybe giving the Cobra’s their second power play marker of the game finishing with a 4 – 2 Hampton win.
Fundy’s Tommy Kingston suffer the loss stopping 36 of 40 shots while Hurricanes Andrew Rodgers earned his first win as a Hurricane turning away 14 of 16 shots .
The Hurricanes will play three road games before their next home game on Saturday Oct 25th when the Grand Lake Moose come to visit . Game Time 8:15 PM
