Canes Fall at Home to Panthers

In NBJHL action the Hampton Hurricanes lost 5-3 to the visiting Western Valley Panthers. Special teams made a difference as 5 of the 8 goals were on the power play.

Hurricane Brad Hooper put the Canes on the board three minutes into the game on the power play after taking a pass from Evan LeBlanc and Chris Forbes. Western Valley’s Matt Warren tied the game midway through the first with the Hurricanes short handed, Brad Warren and Rod Longille assisted on the play.
Western Valley took the lead 37 seconds into period two with another power play goal after Scott Wishart found an open Brody Seveck. Ben Shephard set up Matt Porter for Hampton’s second power play goal to tie the game but Western Valley answered back. Matt Warren with his second of the game assisted by Brad Johnson and Rod Longille made it a 3-2 game. Ryan Dunlevy assisted by Brad Giberson gave the Panthers a two goal lead after two.
With 14:24 left in the third Hampton’s Evan LeBlanc hooked up with Brad Hooper and Kyle Dobson on the power play to make it a 4-3 game . At the 6:43 mark of the third Panther Kevin Anderson assisted by Brab Johnson on the power play secured the Western Valley win for a 5-3 finish.
Andrew Rodgers took the Hampton loss facing 27 shots . Patrick Godreau picked up the win stopping 28 shots.
The Hurricanes next home game is Saturday, December 6, when they host the visiting first entrant Sackville Storm . Game Time 8:15pm at the Hampton Community Centre.
